How Workspace Roles Work

Every Loom account comes with a workspace where you can collaborate with the rest of your team in watching, sharing, and editing videos together. You can see what workspace you are a part of at the top left of your workspace sidebar. Your workspace is broken down into a Library and Spaces.

• Library: this is where all the videos you have created are stored. All of these videos are private until shared. 

• Spaces: every workspace has one automatically created space where every member can share and post their content. Depending on your plan you may have multiple spaces in your Workspace. 

Note: If you are a part of multiple workspaces you'll want to choose your preferred workspace to record into by following the steps here. 

Workspace Roles 

Your Loom account comes with different roles depending on your workspace plan. Below you can find a complete list of the roles available for each plan.👇

• Viewer (available on Education plans)
  Viewers are free roles that can only react to and comment on videos shared in a workspace. They cannot record, upload, or edit a video, although you'll see the option to "invite to edit" when Posting a video. 
• Creator Lite (available on Business and Starter Free plans)
  Creator Lites are free roles. Creator Lites can only record and edit with the limitations of the Starter free plan. This includes 25 video storage limit and a 5-minute recording limit. 
• Creator (available on Business and Enterprise plans) 
  Creators' accounts are paid roles enlisted in the Business plan and  Enterprise (creator may be listed as a member depending on the terms of your contract). Creators have full access to record, share, organize, upload, and edit videos to share.
• Member (available only on Enterprise plans) 
  Member roles are paid roles enlisted on the Enterprise plan(Member roles contain the same permissions as Creators).
  
• Admin (available on all plans) 
  Every workspace needs at least one Admin. Admin accounts are priced at the same rate as Creators and Members accounts on Enterprise and Business plans. Admins have all the privileges of a Creator/Member/Creator Lites + access to manage Workspace settings and member roles.

*Note: All Loom workspace on a Starter free plan can have up to 50 Creator Lites & Admins (combined). Admins on a Starter free have the same recording, editing, and sharing limitations as a Creator Lite role. 

Permissions by Workspace role

Video viewing and Recording Permission 

Admins, creators, and members will have access to all the recording features of Business or Enterprise plans(seen here). Creator Lites and Admins on a Stater free plan will be limited to Starter free limitations.

Editing and Analytic Permission

A Business or Enterprise plan gives admins, creators, and members access to all recording features (as shown here). Admins on the Starter plan and Creator Lites can only access the features of the Starter Free plan. 

* Only admins on an Education, Business, or Enterprsie plan.
**Only admins on a Business or Enterprsie plan.

Administrative Permission: Workspace Membership & Billing

*By default Creators can invite other Creators or Creator Lites to the Workspace, unless the team Admin limits these invites to only Creator Lites in Workspace settings. 

**By default Members can invite other Members to the Workspace unless the team Admin restricts Workspace settings to only allow Admins to invite new Members.
