How to use Loom's Salesforce integration

Use the Salesforce integration to gain insight into how your videos are performing, directly in Salesforce. 📈

If you're a Loom Enterprise Workspace Creator and Salesforce user, you can use the Salesforce integration to better understand your videos' performance. After your Admin has enabled Loom's Salesforce integration, you'll be able to get started.

With Salesforce connected (at the Admin level) Loom will create a new “Loom videos” related object as well as a Task on a Contact or Lead in Salesforce that matches the email of a known viewer on a Loom video with “Salesforce tracking” turned on. Below you can find the following:

Here's how to start tracking a video with Salesforce:

Please Note: to identify and track a viewer in Salesforce, Loom needs the viewer's email and Salesforce tracking to be toggled on. Here are the ways a viewer’s emails can be identified:

✔️ The viewer is a logged-in Loom user
✔️ The viewer provides their email via the Request email to view" feature
✔️ The viewer’s email is specified via the `anon_email=` query parameter in the URL

  1. Record your outreach video using Loom.

  2. Navigate to the Loom video share page and click on the Settings tab from the right-hand side panel.

  3. Then navigate to the Integration tab and toggle on Salesforce

  4. Once Salesforce tracking is on, you'll then want to navigate to the Audience tab from your video settings.

  5. From here, you must turn on Require Email to view.

Note: You also have the option to identify viewers in Salesforce if you have set up Query Parameters for your video or if your viewer is logged into Loom. Any of these will ensure the viewer's email is captured.

  6. Email your Lead or Contact the video link. In Salesforce, you will be able to see the Loom data as a related list on your contact or lead object list. You will also see Loom data as a task in the event feed.

You should see Loom viewer and engagement data in Salesforce within 10 minutes.

How Salesforce Lead Creation from Loom Views Works

If you have 'Lead creation' toggled on in your Salesforce Integration settings, then a new Lead in the Connected Salesforce instance is created when a viewer engages with a Loom that does not match the email of an existing contact or lead.  Note: Lead Creation setting will default to on when the Salesforce instance is first set up. Only the Enterprise admin has access to toggle this setting on and off.

When creating a Lead in Salesforce Last name, Company, and Lead Status are required fields. Loom will attempt to infer these values from the provided email address (Ex. Adam Smith who works at Acem is based on adam.smith@acem.com).

Please Note: Leads will not be created when a logged-in user watches a video. This limitation exists to protect the privacy of our logged-in viewers who have not consented to share their email address (PII) with creators not in their workspace.

For workspaces already connected to Salesforce before the Lead creation feature was created will need to upgrade their Salesforce package version to gain access to Lead creation. This can be done by clicking “Set up in Salesforce” from the Loom Settings Workspace Integrations page.

How to track your viewers within Loom

You can track who viewed your video in your Engagement insights as seen below. Viewers are accounted for if the viewer watches the video for at least five seconds or 75% of the duration. A view will also be accounted for if the viewer scrubs to the end (more information here).

Note: If a viewer enters their email address to your video but does not watch the video, they not be accounted for as a viewer.
