Looms Chrome Extension can't all record pages, here are workarounds!
Not all pages allow you to record with the Loom Chrome Extension. Below you can find out why you can't record on certain pages along with workarounds.
What page are you trying to record on?
Issue: When you open your recorder from one of the pages mentioned above the recording automatically starts the recording in a new tab. When you navigate back to the desired tab, your Camera bubble disappears as seen below.
Why does this happen? These pages aren’t really web pages. The way we’re able to show you the Loom menu and get that beautiful face of yours on camera is by adding our own code to the HTML web page that you have open.
Since those pages don’t have any code to display, as they're not part of the web and are just application pages, we can’t inject our own code on these pages in order to start a recording.
The workaround: You will need to record with the Loom desktop app in order to capture your camera on these types of sites. The desktop app works outside the Chrome browser so you won't run into the same issue here.
Alternatively, you can record with the Chrome Extension if you only want to record in Screen-only mode. If you are on a Business or Enterprise plan, you can even trim out the start of your recording.
Issue: You try to start a recording on a page mentioned above and your Camera and Microphone are instantly disabled as seen below.
Why does this happen? Sites like Facebook and Instagram block Loom from recording your camera and microphone.
The workaround: You will need to record with the Loom desktop app in order to capture your camera and microphone on these types of sites. The desktop app works outside the Chrome browser you won't run into the same issue here.
