If you're recording Microsoft Teams calls on your Mac using Loom and noticing that system audio (aka internal audio) is missing, here’s how to troubleshoot and get things working again. 👇
Issue
No internal/system audio in your Teams recordings, even though audio works fine when recording other apps (like YouTube or Zoom), it’s just Teams that’s giving trouble. 🗣️
Troubleshooting steps
We recommend trying out the following for initial troubleshooting:
1. Check you audio and privacy settings
Ensure that Loom has the necessary permissions to capture your screen and system audio:
Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > and make sure Loom is checked under Camera, Accessibility, Microphone and Screen & System audio recording.
For capturing system audio, verify that the Loom System Audio option is enabled within the Loom application settings. More information on how to enable this here.
2. Reinstall Loom
Sometimes, a fresh installation can resolve underlying issues. Please follow the steps outlined here for a complete reinstall.
3. Install additional audio drivers for Teams
Microsoft provides an audio driver that can improve audio sharing capabilities within Teams. You can download it from Microsoft's official support page here. This driver is typically used to share system audio during Teams meetings, but it may also resolve issues with recording system audio via Loom.
4. Check your Microsoft Teams version
Ensure that you are using the latest version of Microsoft Teams, as updates can include important bug fixes. Open Teams, go to Help > About > Version to check your current version. If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it.
