Merging Atlassian and Loom accounts

If you have account met the criteria listed below then you will have the option to merge your Loom and Atlassian accounts:

  1. You have a Loom account under the same email address as your Atlassian account.

  2. You have attempted to join a Loom workspace that is linked/managed with Atlassian. 

Please Note

Merging your Loom and Atlassian accounts does not merge your existing Loom workspace and subscription into Atlassian ecosystem.

Loom licenses can't be expanded, upgraded, or renewed with any workspaces purchased through Loom.com via Atlassian systems. We’re still working on being able to consolidate those legacy Loom workspaces into Atlassian’s systems. All billing and admin controls will be separate if you buy a new instance/workspace via Atlassian.com.

How to Merge Atlassian and Loom accounts 

If your account meets the criteria met above then you will be able to merge your Atlassian and Loom account at https://loom.com/merge-atlassian-profile. You should also see a banner in the Loom app. 

When you merge your accounts, Loom will refer to Atlassian as the source of truth for profile information such as name, picture, email, and deactivation & deletion states. 

How to keep your accounts separate 

You do have the option to keep your accounts separate. You can update the email of your existing Loom account that overlaps with the Atlassian account email in your personal settings page  (more info on how to change you email here). Once you update your email, all your pervious videos will be stored with the new email address you added and the account will not be linked to Atlassian.

A new account will then be created for the email that overlaps with the Atlassian account email. This new Loom account will be linked to Atlassian and use Atlassian as the source of truth for profile information such as name, picture, email, and deactivation & deletion states. 

Please Note

Loom only supports merging of Atlassian and Loom accounts. Loom does not support merging of two different Loom accounts.

What happens if I don't merge my Loom and Atlassian accounts?
If you choose not to merge your accounts, you will still be able to use Loom independently. However, you will not be able to access Loom features directly from Atlassian products like Confluence or Jira.
Can I unlink my Loom account from my Atlassian account after merging?
No, you cannot unlink your accounts after merging.
Will my existing Loom videos be affected by the merge?
No, your existing Loom videos will remain intact and accessible in your current Loom workspace. The merge only affects your profile and login credentials. You will be a part of the Atlassian’s workspace in addition to your existing workspaces.
How will my profile information be managed after merging?
After merging, your profile information such as name and email will be managed through your Atlassian profile. You can update your profile information at Atlassian Profile Management.
What should I do if I encounter issues during the merge process?
If you encounter any issues during the merge process, please contact Atlassian support for assistance. They will help you resolve any problems you may face.
Can I use my Loom account with other Atlassian products after merging?
Yes, once your accounts are merged, you can use Loom features directly within other Atlassian products like Confluence and Jira.
Will I receive notifications about the merge process?
Yes, you will receive notifications via email and in-app messages to guide you through the merge process and inform you of any important updates.
If I keep my profiles separate, what happens?
Your Loom account will exist as it did before with the only difference being it will login with the new email. Loom will also automatically create a new account with the previous email that is now associated with Atlassian and will use Atlassian authentication to login. This account will be linked to Atlassian and any Looms recorded in Confluence or Jira.
What are the benefits of merging my Loom and Atlassian accounts?
Merging your accounts allows you to seamlessly use Loom features within Atlassian products, manage your profile in one place, and have a unified login experience.
What happens to my Loom videos if I change my email to keep my accounts separate?
Your Loom videos will remain in the workspace they originally belonged to and can be found in your Loom account with the email address you updated with. Your former email address will be managed by Atlassian.
