What to do if Loom is automatically logging you into the wrong account

Issue

You are automatically logged into or redirected to your undesired Loom account. What happening is Loom is logging you into a Loom account under your Slack email address which is different from your preferred email address.

Why this happens

When you authenticate Loom in Slack, Loom will automatically create a new account under your Slack email address (if an account does not yet exist under that email).

Loom authentication in slack occurs when you downloaded the Loom app in Slack or shared a Loom within Slack and follow the prompts to authenticate. The steps below will guide you on how to manage your Loom app connection in Slack.

Solution

  1. Access the Loom Slack app from the directory here: https://useloom.slack.com/apps/A9G1TH4S2-loom?settings=1&tab=settings

  2. Then click on the "Configuration" tab and scroll down to where you see a section called Authorization.

  3. From here you will want to Revoke access.

  4. After you revoke access your page should reload and you should see a green button "Add to Slack", go ahead and click this.

  5. Back to the Loom app in Slack, please click "Connect your Loom account". When prompted to authenticate please hit SKIP.
⚠️ This action will link the Loom app to Slack without logging you into your other Loom account automatically.

  6. Click on "Proceed" and "Allow" to finalize the connection.

You will now see the Loom app in Slack without being logged into any Loom account. This should stop the account redirects altogether. ✔️
