How to restart a recording

Restart recordings with ease. 🔁

Loom's quick restart option removes the hassle of canceling and re-starting a recording! When you use Loom's quick restart option the recording preferences you initially set for the recording will remain intact, saving you time and clicks. 🎉 Here's how to restart a recording:

Chrome extension

When recording with the Loom Chrome extension, you can restart the recording by using Loom's keyboard shortcuts or by using the arrow in your control menu as shown below.

💡 Did you accidentally make a mistake while recording? You can easily recover from mistakes while recording, using Live Rewind. This feature eliminates the need to re-record since it allows you to edit and refine your video in real time. You can learn more about this functionality here.

Desktop app

To restart a Loom desktop recording, hover your mouse towards the menu controls pinned to the left of your screen as shown below:

You can also use Loom's keyboard shortcuts to restart your recording. If you want to edit this shortcut, follow the steps below:

Open the desktop app.
Click the three dots in the top right to open the menu, and select Settings.
Select Preferences. Then scroll down and click the box corresponding to the shortcut you'd like to change.
Your new shortcut will now be set!
