How to use Loom's keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are great to avoid mouse distraction! đŸ–±ïž

When recording, you can control your video with these handy keyboard shortcuts. 

Desktop app keyboard shortcuts 

If you would like to override or double-check what shortcuts you have set, you can do this by opening your Loom app, clicking Settings, then selecting the Preferences tab.  From here you can scroll down and view your shortcuts.

Mac Windows
  • Start & stop recording  = Command + Shift + L
  • Pause & resume recording  =  Option + Shift + P
  • Cancel recording = Option + Shift + C
  • Selected area screenshot =Comand + Shift + 1
  • Quick restart ↩ =Command + Shift + R 
  • Draw  = Command + Shift + D 
  • Confetti 🎉 = Control + Command + C 

Chrome extension keyboard shortcuts 

If you would like to override or double-check what shortcuts you have set visit this link, paste the following link into your chrome browser: chrome://extensions/shortcuts

Mac Windows
  • Activate the extension  = Option + Shift + L
  • Pause & Resume Recording   =  Option + Shift + P
  • Cancel Recording  =   Option + Shift + C
  • Quick restart = Option + Shift + R

While watching a Loom video, the below shortcuts will control the playback:

Video shortcuts

  • Jump Forward 6 Seconds =  Right Arrow or  L
  • Jump Back 6 Seconds =  Left arrow or J
  • Step Forward 1 Second =   .
  • Step Back 1 Second =   ,
  • Play or Pause Playback = K or Space Bar
  • Toggle Full Screen = f
  • Volume Up = Arrow Up
  • Volume Down = Arrow Down
